Finance plays an invaluable role in our society, yet it is rarely associated with sustainable development. How could banks invest in a more sustainable way? This picture reflects the modus operandi of Swiss alternative banks. Sustainability in finance means implementing a set of practices, aspirations and values such as transparency or no participation in stock market to prevent speculation. The majority of loans are granted to Swiss projects to support the local economy and must meet strict criteria of responsibility, sustainability and ethics.
