Endangered lives: fighting biodiversity loss

Biosphere Reserves are UNESCO-designated areas aimed at biodiversity conservation, sustainable development and the promotion of scientific research and environmental education. In Portugal there are 12 areas classified by UNESCO as Biosphere Reserves, territories designed to conserve biological diversity in conjunction with sustainable development Paul do Boquilobo was the 1st Biosphere Reserve in Portugal to be classified.
