The increasing presence of algae is commonly referred as ‘algal bloom’ and shows that the oceans are becoming more acidic. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration of the U.S., as algae grow out of control, toxic or harmful effects on people, fish, shellfish, marine mammals and birds will result.
It is therefore imperative for the authorities and the communities to work together to curb down the devastating effects of global warming which is disrupting our whole marine ecosystem.
