When a balloon is let go, it will blow away, and it will fall again on the ground, or into different water bodies. Once they do, these latex and slow-dissolving “biodegradable” balloons become a danger to many animals that come in contact with them. Birds, whales, sea turtles, and other wild animals have been killed by balloons. Sea turtles and other marine creatures are known to confuse balloons as jellyfish. This may lead to the starvation, entanglement and death of many species.
