Flying High

Malisha Munidasa, Avondale College, New Zealand

The photo highlights the ubiquitous and insidious nature of single-use plastic bags in our environment. These bags are not confined to our land, rivers and oceans but also our skies, only to be trapped like a fish in a net by our trees. The sooner that these bags no longer litter our environment, the better for all concerned. Birds should not have to compete with rubbish in their treetops. There is no place for single-use plastic bags today. Unfortunately it was too dangerous to capture this bag that will soon become invisible as Spring arrives and the leaves hide the culprit.
